Classroom Management

With attention lately focusing heavily on eLearning, an often overlooked, but often vital part of any Learning Management System is how classroom learning is managed. With the roots of GyrusAim in classroom learning you would expect that this learning management system would live up to its lineage and you would be correct.

Courses

• Tracks notes, goals, summaries, vendor and version number.
• Tracks minimum and maximum capacities. Maximum capacities are associated with classroom configurations.
• Options include Auto-Enrolled (from waitlist) and Requires Approval (from supervisor).

Scheduling

• GyrusAim supports pattern scheduling, meaning that classes can be scheduled on particular days of the week, with gaps in weeks or months.
• When a class is scheduled, the days of the class are assigned according to the pattern.
• Each class day can have different start and end times.

Enrollments / Requests / Approvals

• The security options of GyrusAim provide several ways to handle enrollments.
• Enrollments can be made by administrators, supervisors, or the employees themselves.
• Typical organizations allow for employees to enroll themselves pending their supervisor’s approval.
• GyrusAim gently reminds supervisors periodically that they must allow or deny such requests.
• Administrators can approve and override enrollment requests.

Waitlists

• Students can be waitlisted even if the class is not full. This leaves slots open for students who need the training more and for customers or clients.
• Waitlists can be prioritized chronologically or by need (who needs this training sooner).
• Students on the waitlist can be optionally added automatically when slots become open, either because of cancellations or additional slots added to the class.

Cancelations

• Class cancellations and enrollments cancellations are both tracked by GyrusAim including cancellation reasons, dates cancelled, and who cancelled.
• If auto-enroll is turned on for a class when a student cancels an enrollment, the top person on the waitlist is automatically enrolled.

Completions

• Class completions in GyrusAim work similarly to completing classes in academic environments.
• Attendance by class day is recorded for each student. In addition, each learning object within a class is marked as completed for each student.
• Student completion of each learning object is also recorded which affects skill competencies and certifications.
