Assessments

Assessments should be used to assess how well the student learned the materials or how well the student can perform the tasks. Ideally, the instructors are teaching the skill instead of teaching to the assessment. Assessing competencies is a difficult task. GyrusAim makes it easier to assess competencies by providing question pools.

  • Questions are randomly chosen from the pools to form assessments.
  • Assessments can pull from multiple pools or from one pool with different numbers of questions from each pool.
  • Answers can also be optionally randomized in GyrusAim so that students cannot memorize answers to questions by their positions. This provides truer assessments of the students’ abilities.
  • Assessments in GyrusAim can be pass-fail or scored. Pass-fail assessments determine if a skill is met to a specific competency level. Scored assessments determine the competency of a skill by the score on the assessment.
  • Questions can be true-false, multiple choice, multiple answer, and fill-in-the-blank. All assessments are graded automatically by GyrusAim.
  • Assessments include a re-take window that says that a failed assessment cannot be re-taken within a certain time period.
